April 20, 2023 solar eclipse
Deep passions are stirred during the solar eclipse this April, perhaps bringing up feelings that you didn't even realise you had. Surprising news hits the headlines too as China takes a karmic leap forward.
On April 20, 2023 at 5.12am GMT, there is a solar eclipse at 29 degrees Aries and 50 minutes. Despite being in the cardinal sign of Aries it also situates on the cusp of all the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).
The eclipse is part of the Saros Series 7 North which last occurred in the years 1915, 1933, 1951, 1969, 1987, 2005.
Brady describes the SS 7 North eclipse cycle as “a very sensual family of eclipses ranging from sudden sexual passions and lust to birth and procreative drives. This series is not subtle; it can catch people off guard and confront them with their own very deep passion, which may have been hidden for years.”
One of the key characteristics of the eclipse is that it is almost exactly square Pluto putting intense pressure on a astrological body which has just moved into Aquarius - a once in a generation type event which will have a radically transforming and reforming effect on society.
Pluto is a powerhouse, one that stirs the deepest rawest emotions often to do with power, control, rage, lust. By moving into Aquarius (Pluto moves slowly back and forth between Capricorn and Aquarius until well into next year) we have the huge economic, political and military shift from the conventional Capricorn type system to one which embraces new technological developments - a transition already well underway with the introduction of drone warfare or cryptocurrencies and environmental technologies like electric cars and solar energy.
All eclipses put pressure onto an area of your chart and if the eclipse falls on a sensitive area then things are bound to change for you. Some astrologers argue that eclipses often conceal or “cover up” issues, or that issues are often not as they seem at the time of the eclipse. Other astrologers argue that matters are brought to the surface under an eclipse and are finally revealed, sometimes in a very sudden or shocking way. My view is that it depends on which side of the coin you are looking. In my experience, things that have been hidden are often forced into the light by a solar eclipse but that by shining the light in one direction, other areas of life get pushed into the shadow.
This eclipse at 29 degrees Aries will particularly effect anyone born in the second half of April, the second half of October, the second half of July and the second half of December or anyone with sensitive points (like the Sun, Moon, Mc or Asc) at the latter stage of a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) or the beginning few degrees of a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).
There are a number of planets in aspect with the eclipse but the ones I will discuss here include Mercury, Poseidon and Uranus in aspect to Mars and Kronos and the nodal axis with Jupiter. Key words to do with this eclipse are:
Unexpected news. On a personal level but also in the outer world. This may possibly involve China or another type of nation state that prides itself on strong policing of its populous
Hasty and energetic reactions
Disputes
Demonstrating will power or expressing strong thoughts
Revolutionary thoughts
Surprise attack or an ambush
Successful connections or unions that are very profitable financially
I will be very surprised if China is not in the news a lot at this time. The eclipse falls just one degree away from its Nodal Axis (in the China birth chart of 1 Jan 1912) suggesting a heavily fated event. Karma is hard at work here.
